Commercial Water Filters

CustomCare Water Technologies filter systems are designed to work with a number of different filter media depending upon the contaminant to be removed for your particular application. Filters are offered in both fiberglass tank/top mounted valve and steel tank/diaphragm valve nest configurations. While the hardware is consistent, different medias are used to treat a particular contaminant.

Filter media available are:

    • Activated Carbon – for the removal of chlorine and organics Granular Activated Carbon (HAC) is designed for the reduction of tastes, odors and dissolved organic chemicals from municipal and industrial water supplies. The most common application for HAC carbon is the reduction of free chlorine from water supplies. This not only provides clean, fresh water with no objectionable taste and odor for human consumption but as an excellent pre-treatment for reverse osmosis membranes, which cannot tolerate chlorine. Inlet water to a carbon filter should be relatively free of iron and turbidity. Carbon filters operate over a wide pH range.

  • Agracleer – for the removal of typical suspended solids Agrecleer, typically known as “Filter-Ag” is a non-hydrous silicon dioxide media that is used to filter suspended mater down to a filter range of 20 – 40 microns. Filter-Ag medias fractured edges and irregular surfaces provide a high surface area and complex flow path for the removal of suspended matter throughout the entire media bed. The light weight of the media requires lower backwash rates, thus saving water, over other filter media. Filter-Ag filters operate over a wide pH range.

  • Acid Neutralizer – for the correction of an acidic water condition Calcite media is a self-sacrificing, naturally occurring calcium carbonate media. It is a self-limiting media that will correct pH only enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium. Having a slow reacting time requires low service flows. Periodic backwashing and media bed replacement are required. Corosex media is a highly reactive magnesium oxide and is used where substantial pH correction OR high service flows are required. Periodic backwashing and media bed replacement are required. Cal/Cor Mix is a combination blend of Calcite and Corosex. This acid neutralizing mixture provides the advantages of both media. Periodic backwashing and media bed replacement are required.

  • Manganese Greensand – for the removal of both oxidized iron and iron in solution Manganese Greensand is formulated from a glauconite greensand that is impregnated with manganese and capable of reducing iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide from water through oxidation and filtration. Iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide are precipitated out, then filtered out and finally flushed out of the media bed through backwashing. Upon bed exhaustion, the media bed must be backwash and regenerated with a weak Potassium Permanganate (KMnO4) solution to restore the oxidizing capacity of the media. Continuous Potassium Permanganate operation, utilizing a chemical fed pump in conjunction with the well pump, can be substituted for the “batch” regeneration method.

  • Multi-Layer – for the removal of both heavy sediment and suspended matter More commonly known as “depth” filters, these highly efficient filters provide extremely high service flows and lengthy service runs by utilizing the entire media bed, top to bottom. Four (4) layers of graded gravel filters particles, largest at the top TO smallest at the bottom to offer 10 micron filtration at the suggested service flow with minimal pressure drop. These filters require very high backwash rates to thoroughly clean the media bed. Not recommended as the primary filter on extremely high turbidity applications.
